Donald Lutz sidelined for Season following Tommy John Surgery

Posted on May 4, 2015May 4, 2015 by philipp

Donald Lutz FacebookGerman outfielder/first baseman Donald Lutz will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2015 season following Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. He suffered a torn tendon on a throw from the outfield. Usually a standard procedure for pitchers these days, every now and then a position player also is caught.

The 26-year-old was playing for the Louisville Bats. He had a slow start into the season by going 8-for-42 with in 13 games in the Triple-A International League. However he slowly was finding his groove hitting safely in four of the last five games.

As a position player he will miss less time compared for a pitcher having Tommy John surgery. However he still faces a six-month rehabilitation and therefore a return to the playing field this year seems to be less likely.
