Favorites win on Thursday in Hoofdklasse / Lights out in Amsterdam

Posted on April 17, 2015 by philipp

The Dutch Hoofdklasse opened its gates for the 2015 season on Thursday evening. All four games were started, but only three completed. The contest between L&D Amsterdam and UVV was stopped in the sixth inning due an outage of the lighting system. It will be continued ahead of Saturday’s second game of the series.

Meanwhile defending champion Curacao Neptunus dominated HCAW Bussum 12-2 in eight innings. Christian Diaz and Dwayne Kemp collected three hits apiece to score five of the 12 runs. Orlando Yntema struck out seven in five frames for the win. Maickel Rietel got charged with the loss.

The Vaessen Pioniers shut out Mampaey The Hawks 6-0. Ricardo Hernandez and three relievers kept The Hawks to three hits and four walks in nine scoreless innings. Quintin de Cuba doubled twice. Corendon Kinheim defeated DSS in a local Haarlem derby 10-1. Tom Stuifbergen was strong in six innings. Dashenko Ricardo collected four hits.
