Will Ferrell played 10 Positions for 10 MLB-Teams in 5 Games on 1 Evening

Posted on March 13, 2015 by philipp

Actor Will Ferrell played 10 positions for 10 different MLB clubs in 5 Cactus League games on 1 evening. It was a good cause as all profits will help cancer survivors. He started his tour in Arizona at the Oakland Athletics vs Seattle Mariners game. He began at shortstop for the A’s and then got traded to the Mariners to play second.

Next up was the contest between the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Angels, where he replaced Mike Trout in center field for the Angels. Afterwards he served as third base coach for the Cubs, struck out as pinch hitter and stayed on the field for one out as Chicago’s first baseman.

Next on the journey was a trip to the Cincinnati Reds vs Arizona Diamondbacks game. He played left field for the D’backs and the hot corner for the Reds. One helicopter ride later he landed for the Chicago White Sox vs San Francisco Giants contest. He fouled off a pitch before striking out as pinch hitter for the White Sox.

He then went behind the plate for the Giants, catching an intentional base on balls. For his last game he travelled to the Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres game. He pitched for the Dodgers inducing a ground ball to the pitcher on a bunt attempt successfully throwing to first for the out. He was replaced and finished his trip playing right field for the Padres. In between he met Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda.

Ferrell’s historical day was chronicled in a HBO Special on the 50th anniversary of Bert Campaneris feat when he played all nine positions for the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball. Campaneris was on hand for Ferrell’s stunt.
