Olympia Haarlem wins Indoor Tournament in Hamburg

Olympia Haarlem Hamburg Indoor Cup Winners

Dutch Golden League club Olympia Haarlem has won the Women’s Fastpitch Indoor Softball Tournament, which was played last weekend in Hamburg, Germany. They defeated the German Women’s National Team 3-0 in the final.

Overall four teams participated in the two-day event, including Olympia Haarlem from the Netherlands, the German Women’s National Team, host Hamburg Knights of the German Softball-Bundesliga and Storms Prague from the Czech Extraleague Softball.

During the preliminary round on Saturday Haarlem came through with a clean 3-0 record followed by Germany, Hamburg and Prague. In a key matchup for first place in the round robin Olympia defeated Germany with a 2-0 shutout. On Sunday morning Germany defeated the Hamburg Knights 6-0 to reach the finals. Afterwards Haarlem edged out Storms 5-2.

Hamburg Knights – Olympia Haarlem 0-5
Storms Prague – Germany 0-4
Germany – Hamburg Knights 4-3
Storms Prague – Olympia Haarlem 2-10
Storms Prague – Hamburg Knights 3-6
Olympia Haarlem – Germany 2-0
Sunday, March 1, 2015:
Semi-Final 1: Germany – Hamburg Knights 6-0
Semi-Final 2: Storms Prague – Olympia Haarlem 2-5
Final: Germany – Olympia Haarlem 0-3
