ISG Vancouver Canada Coaches Clinic with over 250 Coaches

Posted on February 27, 2015February 27, 2015 by philipp

By International Sports Group

Hosted at the Langley Events Center by British Columbia Minor Baseball Organization

Our host Mike Kelly, coaching development officer, had the conference very organized with many activities for the coaches and players to attend. Young coaches also attended the conference to receive their British Columbia coach’s certification. Players had the option to attend an interactive clinic hosted by the Toronto Blue Jays represented by Lloyd Moseby, Rance Mulinix, Reggie Smith and Pete Wilkinson.

Mike had a dedicated staff that made the check in and daily operation run smoothly. Coaches were greeted with a packet that contained an extensive Coaches Resource Package detailing each speakers vita and their speaking outlines. In addition to ISG speakers (Pete Caliendo, Randy Town and Reggie Smith) the group included Pete Wilkinson (Life Performance Academy and National Pitching Association), Ron Davini (former USA Baseball Manager/Coach), Greg Hamilton (Manager Baseball Canada ), Rick Johnston (Baseball Zone Toronto, former National Team Coach), Marty Lehn (Big League Experience Baseball Camp and former Canada National Team Coach), Dave Empey (former head coach of the Vancouver Cannons).

The attendance was very good with a reported 175 coaches signed up. The coaches in attendance spoke on a variety of topics covering all aspects of the game. ISG board member, Randy Town spoke on pitching and catching, Reggie Smith on hitting and ISG Vice President Pete Caliendo instructed on proper warm up, myths of coaching and practice organization.

The Langley Events Center had excellent facilities– large gymnasium that was sectioned off for lecture, a classroom and for vendors. They also utilized a hockey rink covered in turf for interactive drills.

Reggie Smith did an outstanding job on hitting and I heard a number of coaches and clinicians comment “that was the best clinic on hitting I have ever heard….”. Reggie’s willingness to talk hitting was evident all day long —one on one and in hallway breakout sessions.
