Peter Johannessen returns to Mainz Athletics

Swedish National Team outfielder Peter Johannessen is returning to the Mainz Athletics. The 30-year-old left-handed batter already played for the A’s in 2011 and 2012 after a stint in the Italian Baseball League with Godo. Following an exhibition game prior to the 2014 European Championship he voiced his interest to play another year outside of Sweden and eventually decided to join Mainz due to the great chemistry he experienced during his first two years. He had left the Athletics due to professional reasons off the field. Since going back to Sweden he played for the Stockholm Monarchs in the Swedish Elitserien.
