European Softball Championship Junior Women: Day 3 & 4, July 23 & 24, 2014

Posted on July 25, 2014 by philipp

The second round and the consolation round at the European Softball Championship Junior Women in Rosmalen, Netherlands got played on Wednesday and Thursday and continues until Friday afternoon.

Heavy favorite and host the Netherlands is stumbling in the second round, showing that the other countries in European softball have gained ground. Following a walk-off loss to Italy on Wednesday evening, the Dutch Juniors also lost to the Czech Republic and to Great Britain on Thursday, both times on walk-off hits again. At the top of the Group X standings Italy sits with a perfect 4-0 record. The Czech and British teams follow with three wins and a loss each.

Officials at the tournament struck out on Wednesday when they denied a German photographer the opportunity to take pictures. This is especially worrisome, as the European Softball Championship gained huge amounts of interest on Facebook throughout the worldwide Softball community in the last couple of days. But without pictures this chance to receive publicity will vanish pretty soon.
