Bussolengo, Rhibo La Loggia meet in Italian Softball Series

Posted on July 2, 2014July 2, 2014 by philipp

Bussolengo and Rhibo La Loggia are squaring off in the Italian Softball Series. La Loggia, which had won the first two games against Fiorini Forli, lost the third match 6-7, but prevailed 9-5 in the decisive fourth game.

Bussolengo meanwhile needed five games to down Bollate. Greta Cecchetti pitched a four-hitter to lead Bollate to a 3-0 shutout in game three, taking a 2-1 lead in the series. But Bussolengo answered with a pair of shutouts on its own to win the series.

Game four was a lopsided 7-0 affair, which saw Kimberly Bruins struck out 12 in six one-hit, one-walk frames. Game five was a nail-biter, which was decided by a seventh-inning run of Silvia Refrontolotto on a walk-off single by Valeria Bortolami. Bruins pitched another gem, out-dueling Cecchetti barely in the pitcher’s circle.
