In the Dutch Hoofdklasse Baseball four games were on the schedule on Thursday. The first period of the regular season ends on June 1. The Vaessen Pioniers defeated Corendon Kinheim 4-1. All four runs were scored in the third, two on a single by Danny Rombley. Elton Koeiman pitched seven strong innings to win the pitcher’s duel against David Bergman. Dashenko Ricardo accounted for the lone Kinheim run with a solo home run.

In the other two matchups the ADO Lakers prevailed 1-0 at Mr. Cocker HCAW after strong pitching by Timo van Ancum, Martijn Riphagen and Ibrahin Redan. UVV nearly blew a 5-0 lead en route to a 5-4 victory over Mampaey The Hawks. A two-run double by Rodney Michel brought the Hawks within a run in the bottom of the eighth, but Berry van Donselaar got thrown out at home during the same play, trying to score from first.
