Vaessen Pioniers deny Milestone Win for DOOR Neptunus

Posted on April 25, 2014 by philipp

Two late runs on RBI doubles by Vince Rooi and Kevin Dirksen in the bottom of the seventh gave the Vaessen Pioniers a 5-3 win over DOOR Neptunus, denying the 1000th milestone win in the Dutch Hoofdklasse on Thursday evening. It was a nice game in front of a good crowd at the new Hoofddorp stadium which got free entry thanks to sponsor DHL.

It was a back and forth battle between two 3-0 starters into the new Hoofdklasse season. The Pioniers prevailed in the end for their fourth win in as many games. Ricardo Hernandez pitched six solid innings, allowing five hits, three runs and three walks. Sedley Karel took over in the seventh and inherited the win. Diegomar Markwell issued eight hits, five runs and four base on balls to take the loss.
