Posted on March 12, 2014 by philipp

Great Britain has received a wild card for this year’s Women’s Softball World Championship in Haarlem, Netherlands. The British squad will be the fifth European team in the tournament besides host Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic and Russia. It will be there fourth straight Softball Worlds, which will be held from August 15 to 24 this summer.

Head Coach Hayley Scott said: “I can think of no group of athletes that deserves to perform at the World Championships more than our GB Team – a team with heart, courage and a lot of guts, built on the platform set by the women who came before them when we first qualified for 2010. I am very excited and proud to be associated with this team of players and staff and the British Softball Federation. Now our preparations will need to step up a little bit more!”

The Americas will bring the United States, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to Haarlem. Asia is represented by China, Chinese Taipei and Japan, Oceania by Australia and New Zealand and Africa by Botswana. For more information and tickets visit www.wcsoftball2014.com.
