Astros Valencia bring in Matthew Erickson prior to 2014 Season in Division de Honor

The Astros Valencia are ready for the 2014 season in the Spanish Division de Honor according to a preview report on the website of the Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation. Roberto Sabin and Juan Garcia once again will be responsible for the coaching duties.

Valencia has made once big acquisition during the winter, signing Matthew Erickson, who won a MVP award in an Australian league last year. He joins former teammate David Groener on the Astros. Lowuin Sacramento will serve as second starting pitcher.

Coming back are Blake Ochoa, Sandel Cuevas, Mikel Bosch, Luis Galicia, Pedro Peraza, Luis Rodriguez and Alberto Orti. Pablo Casero, David Garcia, Ramses Gonzalez and Dennys Rodriguez are knocking on the door of the first team.

Valencia had a so so season last year, going 13-19 in the Division de Honor. They will open the 2014 campaign against CB Barcelona in mid-March. Their first home game will be against Baseball Navarra one week later.
