The German Baseball-Bundesliga is set with 16 teams for the 2014 season. However only under provision. The Hanover Regents, which are looking to return to the top level in German baseball for the first time since the 2008 season, are required to make crucial updates to their field. The city has to approve the construction plans with a deadline this December. Otherwise Hanover will remain in the second division.
In case the Regents don’t move up, the northern division will be with seven instead of eight teams after the relegation of the Berlin Sluggers. In the south there has been no change. With the lack of willing second-division clubs to advance to the first league, the Tubingen Hawks and the Bad Homburg Hornets secured their spots in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. A decision about the setup of the Softball-Bundesliga will be announced after a DBV meeting on December 15.
