The promoted club REGGIO EMILIA has announced the acquisition of pitcher Francesco Corsaro. The 24-year-old comes from the Serie A2 team JUNIOR PARMA. He appeared in 19 games (17 starts) this season, posting a 6-10 record and an ERA of 4.36. He struck out 57 in 99 innings, while walking 52. Opponents batted .264 against him.
Besides building a roster for the 2009 Italian Baseball League season, the club also prepares the playing field for next year. They are currently putting in a new drainage system that allows a faster absorption from water off the turf. In addition new padding will be installed at the outfield walls. The work is expected to be finished right in time for training camp next spring.
