Posted on September 30, 2013 by philipp

After last weekend’s hiatus due to the Bern Cardinals participation in the European Cup Playoff, the semi-finals in the Swiss Nationalliga continued on Saturday and Sunday. The Cardinals won twice over the Zurich Challengers to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series. In game two on Saturday Bern prevailed 6-1 behind a four-run first inning. Patrick Lawson struck out nine in a complete game win. Robert Sedin collected ten strikeouts, but also issued nine hits, six runs and two walks in eight innings. In game three one day later Bern scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to an 11-4 win. Marcos Paulino de los Santos went 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Albert Carl Marsknik was 3-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Tobias Imboden got the win, Tobias Siegrist the loss.

The Therwil Flyers are leading 2-1 in the second semi-final against the Embrach Mustangs. The Mustangs won game two on Saturday 5-3. Two runs in the first, one in the third and two in the fifth gave them an early 5-1 lead. Joshua Crouse and Christian Klarer combined to drive in all five runs for Embrach. Hide Oshima had three RBI for Therwil, including a two-run double in the ninth. On Sunday Lukas Croton led the Flyers to a 9-1 victory.
