Rimini wins Coppa Italia in three games against Nettuno

Rimini has won the Coppa Italia 2013. They defeated Nettuno 5-4 in the decisive game three of the best-of-three final series on Saturday evening. Three runs in the bottom of the ninth helped to overcome a 2-4 deficit en route to the dramatic win. Lorenzo Di Fabio tied the contest with a two-run triple. Adolfo Gomez followed with a walk-off RBI single to finish off the victory. Nettuno had taken the lead on a two-run double by Renato Imperiali in the top of the frame.

Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez allowed two hits, two runs and three walks in three innings of relief to pick up the win. Massimiliano Masin got charged with the loss. Starters Valerio Simone and Sandy Patrone had given up two runs apiece in 7 1/3 innings respective six innings. On Friday Rimini had won game one by a score of 10-7. On Saturday afternoon Nettuno prevailed 7-3 to tie the series. With the Coppa Italia victory the Pirates are qualified for next year’s European Cups.
