Dornbirn Sharx claim Austrian Softball Title

The Dornbirn Sharx have won the Austrian Softball Championship. It is their third title in the past three years and their 12th overall. They defeated the Vienna Mosquitoes 8-0 in the final on Saturday evening in Vienna. Both teams already met on Friday with the Sharx prevailing 6-2 to advance to the title game. The Mosquitoes then went on to down the Vienna Wanderers in the semi-final. The Wanderers had defeated the Witches Linz. Conny Chowjka, who drove in a couple of runs and pitched in the final game, was named Most Valuable Player of the 2013 season in the Austrian Softball League afterwards.

Friday, September 6, 2013:
Witches Linz – Vienna Wanderers 5-7
Dornbirn Sharx – Vienna Mosquitoes 6-2
Saturday, September 7, 2013:
Vienna Mosquitoes – Vienna Wanderers 9-2
Dornbirn Sharx – Vienna Mosquitoes 8-0
