Posted on September 3, 2013 by philipp

The French Division I championship series started this past weekend with the first two games in Senart. The Templiers Senart and the Rouen Huskies split. In game one Rouen prevailed 10-2 on Saturday. They scored eight of their ten runs between the third and the fifth to decide the outcome. Matthew Smith and Brian Ramirez had three hits apiece. Luis Aponte drove in three against his former club. Owen Ozanich pitched eight strong innings for the win. Jonathan Mottay took the loss.

In the second game of the best-of-five-set the Templiers won 2-1 on Sunday. Ernesto Martinez had a two-run single in the first, which was enough to turn out to be crucial in the end. Dylan Gleeson drove in Ramirez in the second to cut the deficit to a run. But neither team was able to score afterwards. Henry Leyva pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings of relief of Mathieu Brelle-Andrade. Jose Rodriguez conceded five hits, two runs and two base on balls in eight innings, taking the loss.
