Italian Baseball League: Reggio Emilia shuts out Mastiff in Tripleheader

The 17th of 18 game days in the Italian Baseball League regular season 2013 ended with seven games on Saturday. Due to a make-up game Toshiba Mastiff Grosseto and Palfinger Reggio Emilia met for a triple header. Reggio Emilia won all three games with shutouts. In the morning Filippo Crepaldi and Fabio Ricco issued just four hits in a 6-0 win. In the afternoon Filippo Bertolini and Davide Murari combined for a five-hitter in a 14-0 rout. In the night cap Nibaldo Acosta, Mattia Salsi and Dario Espinoza conceded five hits in a 2-0 victory. Both runs were scored in the third.

The New Black Panthers Ronchi dei Legionari and the Godo Knights split a doubleheader. In game one in the afternoon the New Black Panthers prevailed 12-2, blowing the contest wide open with six runs in the eighth. Jesus Yepez struck out 12 in six innings. Jakob Trobec scored four times. Afterwards Godo came back from a 0-3 deficit in an 8-3 win.

After losing on Friday, Nettuno defeated Rimini 11-6 on Saturday. Five runs in the seventh and eighth decided the outcome. Four players had two RBI for Nettuno. Eight different crossed the plate for runs. In the last matchup of the day Parma won 12-2 in Novara, scoring six runs in the last two frames. Alex Sambucci homered twice and drove in six. Stefano Desimoni and Osman Marvel scored three runs apiece.
