Posted on June 1, 2013 by philipp

The Mainz Athletics downed the Bad Homburg Hornets 8-3 on Friday evening in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. The A’s scored seven runs of their eight in the seventh and the eighth. Max Boldt and Julius Spann led the way with a combined six hits and five RBI. Julius Reitemeier struck out five in 4 1/3 scoreless four-hit, six-walk innings. It was his first ever appearance on the top level in German baseball. Pascal Raab earned the win in relief. Kyle Waddell kept Mainz to one run through the first six frames, but fell apart in the end. He finished with 13 hits, eight runs (3 ER) and a walk in 7 2/3 innings.

Meanwhile the doubleheaders in the south of the German Baseball-Bundesliga on Saturday got rained out. Tubingen versus Regensburg and Mannheim against Heidenheim were canceled on Friday, Stuttgart versus Haar followed on early Saturday.
