The Berlin Sluggers have fired head coach José Sanchez after just four game days in the 2013 season of the German Baseball-Bundesliga. Duane Phillips, Andrew Jones and Kevin Cooray will take over as coaches. Sanchez just had signed a three-year contract last fall, as the Sluggers were trying to solidify a coaching staff which saw plenty of changes through the last couple of years.
Berlin started decent into the new season, capturing a split against the Cologne Cardinals on the first weekend. However afterwards they lost all games for a 1-7 start, including a couple of blowouts by the Dohren Wild Farmers, Untouchables Paderborn and Bonn Capitals. On Saturday the team travels to Paderborn for a doubleheader.
