On a freezing cold Sunday afternoon the Therwil Flyers and Zurich Lions opened up the Swiss NLA Season. In Game 1 the Flyers jumped all over the Lions connecting for 5 runs. The offense did not stop there as the Flyers added runs in bunches, 6 in the 3rd inning, 1 in the 4th inning and then exploded for 10 runs in the 6th to end the game with the 20 run mercy rule. The Flyers where lead offensively by Dan Eichenberger who went 4-5 with 1 double, 3 rbi, and 4 runs scored. New import player Josh Tamba also chipped in 3 hits and scored 2 runs. On the mound Lukas Croton got the start and looked in mid season form, going 4 innings allowing no runs and 1 hit and strikeing out 6. Hide Oshima and Stefan Koller finished it up with 1 inning of work each. The final score Flyers 22 – Lions 0
Game 2 saw a pitching matchup of Import Josh Tamba for the flyers vs Andre Eugster for the Lions. The lions jumped out to a fast 1-0 lead on an unearned run and Eugster did a fantastic job for the first 4 innings holding the big bats of the flyers down to only 4 runs, but in the 5th inning the flyers jumped all over a tired Eugster and pushed across 5 runs, After his removal the Flyers added 3 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to stop the game due too the 10 run mercy rule. On offense the Flyers attack was lead by Tamba who was 4-5 with 3 runs scored, and Taka Oshima who went 2-5 with 2 doubles. On the mound Tamba got the start going 4 innings allowing no hits, 1 unearned run and had 8 strikeouts, following Tamba on the mound Adi Kaufmann went 2 innings no runs and 4 strikeouts and Chris Blackbee finished it up with 1 inning of work and 1 strikeout. For the Lions the lone bright spot was the pitching of Andre Eugster who had 4 strikeouts in 4 innings of work. The final score Flyers 14 – and Lions 1.
