No it is not a typo. Unipol Bologna has indeed won the 2012 Coppa Italia with a 4-1 win over Telemarket Rimini last Saturday. Juan Carlos Infante scored twice and Daniele Malengo collected three hits and a RBI to lead Fortitudo to the victory. Mario Chiarini had three hits for the Pirates.

Luca Panerati, who is departing for Japan within a couple of days, threw 4 2/3 innings of scoreless balls to lead three Bologna hurlers. Matteo D’Angelo got the win, despite allowing the only Rimini run. Roberto Corradini took the loss. Tommaso Cherubini, Sandy Patrone and Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez followed him on the mound.

The final of the Italian cup tournament had to be played this spring as a prelude to the 2013 season, as last summer’s European Cup Final Four was scheduled for late August on last minute, causing the postponement.
