Catching Up: Finnish Baseball League

Posted on October 28, 2008 by philipp

In the upcoming days we are trying to catch up with the leagues in European Baseball, we were not covering during the summer. We are going to give you an overview about the championship. You can also send us (news@mister-baseball.com) a report about your league and we’ll try to publish it.

Today we are looking at the Finnish Baseball League. The EXPOS, which finished in fifth place at the European Cup Qualifier this June in Kutno, Poland, accomplished a perfect season in Finland. They won all 15 games during the regular season, swept the semi-finals against the TIGERS and defeated the ICEBREAKERS 3-0 in the championship series. After the league season they also dominated the cup competition and secured the title in the Suomen Cup with a 13-4 victory in the finals against the BULLETS.

Standings after the Regular Season:

Expos 15-0
Icebreakers 10-5
Eagles 8-6
Bullets 7-8
Tigers 4-10
Puumat 0-15

Semi-Finals:
Expos – Tigers 2-0 (14-6, 7-0)
Icebreakers – Bullets 2-0 (23-14, 11-5)
