
Left-handed pitcher Luke Sommer, who pitched for Corendon Kinheim and the German National Team this summer, is back in affiliated minor league ball. According to Baseball America the 27-year-old Oregon native signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers organization. Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2007 he already played four seasons in the Minors with a 13-13 record and an ERA of 2.97, pitching as high as Triple-A.
After being released Sommer came to the Dutch Hoofdklasse. For Corendon Kinheim he went 10-2 with an ERA of 2.05 in 14 starts. He helped the team to reach the Holland Series and winning the championship by stunning favorite DOOR Neptunus. Afterwards he got a German passport and joined the German national team for the European Championship in the Netherlands and the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg.
