German infielder Dominik Wulf, one of the best players in German baseball in the last decade who didn’t play in the United States, will retire following the 2013 season. Working fulltime as doctor he actually wanted to hang up his cleats already this year, but an ACL tear during the playoffs ended his season abruptly. He didn’t want to end things that way and will make another try to lead the Solingen Alligators to the German championship. The 30-year-old German national teamer missed the European Championship and the World Baseball Classic Qualifier due to the injury. He batted .433/.509/.711 with three homeruns, a triple, 16 doubles, 31 runs and 26 RBI in 24 games during the regular season in 2012.
