The Solingen Alligators have added a second American besides shortstop Travis Bass. The 23-year-old Tanner Leighton is a versatile player, who will be most likely used in the infield. He is coming out of the independent Frontier League, where he played for three teams in 2012. He batted a combined .201/.291/.299 with three triples, nine doubles, 14 runs and 14 RBI in 48 games. He is currently in Australia, wearing the jersey of the Melville Braves. Having stolen 31 bases in 39 attempts on college, the Alligators hope to take advantage of his speed in the German Baseball-Bundesliga as well. According to the club press release a new starting pitcher for game two will follow in the next two to three weeks.
