Relegation in Baseball-Bundesliga finished

Posted on October 4, 2008 by philipp

The relegation in the German Baseball-Bundesliga was finished on Friday. The INDIANS defeated the HORNETS 4-3 in ten innings to win the best-of-three series 2-0 and to stay in the highest division in Germany. However because of the renouncement of second division winner LADENBURG ROMANS, BAD HOMBURG received the right for promotion, despite the loss against GAUTING.  They now have time till October 13th to decide, if they can do it financially. The same thing goes for the PULHEIM GOPHERS in the north. They finished in second in the 2nd Bundesliga and now have the opportunity to make the jump.

The relegation series in the north between the HANOVER REGENTS and the DOHREN WILD FARMERS was cancelled after game one of the best-of-three series, as both clubs aren’t able to play in the 2009 edition of the Baseball-Bundesliga due to financial reasons.

The NEUNKIRCHEN NIGHTMARES (north) and the NEUENBURG ATOMICS (south) got relegated directly after eighth-ranked finishes.

North:
Solingen Alligators
Paderborn Untouchables
Cologne Cardinals
Dortmund Wanderers
Bonn Capitals
HSV Stealers
Pulheim Gophers*

South:
Heidenheim Heidekoepfe
Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg (2008 champion)
Mannheim Tornados
Mainz Athletics
Haar Disciples
Saarlouis Hornets
Gauting Indians
Bad Homburg Hornets*

*Have to confirm participation till October 13th.
