Germany and Sweden met for a warm-up doubleheader in Paderborn on Sunday. They teams split the twin bill. In game one Sweden prevailed 3-0 behind strong pitching of Rickard Leander, Nicklas Melin, Chris Staehely and David Long. Johan Hoeglund, Chris Johansson and Nico Filice scored the three runs for Sweden. Germany used Andre Hughes, Jan-Niclas Stoecklin, Eugen Heilmann, Dominik Hartinger, Adrian Stommel and Maurice Wilhelm as pitchers.
In game two Germany won 6-3 in seven innings. Harry Glynne and Christian Decher pitched for the team of head coach Greg Frady. Glynne had to leave early, getting hit by a comebacker. Ludwig Glaser sparked an experimenting German offense with a homerun. Joakim Claesson, Albin Sivard and Per Sjoers were the hurlers for Sweden.
Sweden is going to travel to Antwerp for two exhibition games against Belgium on Monday and Tuesday (first pitch 6.30pm). Germany makes the trip to Utrecht for games against the Netherlands on Tuesday and Wednesday (first pitch 7.30pm).
