Italy and Spain kicked off the Italian Baseball Week, which serves as final preparation prior to the European Championship in the Netherlands. On Friday evening Spain shut out the home team in Nettuno 2-0 thanks to great pitching by Leslie Nacar, Antonio Noguera, Jose Cruz, Manuel Oliveira and Remigio Leal. At the plate Blake Ochoa and Franklin Tavarez scored the two runs for the Spanish national team. Jack Santora had two hits for Italy. They used Chris Cooper, Adam Clerici, Andrea Pizziconi and Valerio Simone on the mound.
