Recaps: San Marino wins first Showdown with Bologna

T&A San Marino – Unipol Bologna 7-5

T&A San Marino won the first game of their three-game series against Unipol Bologna on Thursday evening in the Italian Baseball League. The Titans prevailed 7-5 over Fortitudo in front of an attendance of 600. The guests had opened the contest with four runs in the first. But T&A came back, answering with their own four-run rally in the fourth. One inning later Carlos Duran broke the tie with a two-run homerun. Laidel Chapelli had a two-run triple for San Marino. Marco Yepez went 3-for-3 with two runs. Gabriele Ermini drove in two for Bologna. Ivan Granados ended up with the win, allowing just two hits and a walk in five scoreless innings of relief. Mattia Barbaresi was charged with the loss.

Telemarket Rimini – Cariparma Parma 1-2

A solo homerun by Alex Sambucci and a RBI single by Sebastiano Poma in the top of the fourth were enough for Cariparma Parma to edge out Telemarket Rimini by a score of 2-1. Jose Sanchez struck out eight in seven strong inning, allowing five hits, a run and three walks. Francisco Cruceta struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings in the losing effort. Rimini only was able to avoid the shutout, scoring their lone run on a RBI fielder’s choice by Filippo Crociati in the seventh.

De Angelis Godo Knights – Danesi Nettuno 1-2

William Bergolla lifted Danesi Nettuno to a 2-1 win against the De Angelis Godo Knights thanks to a two-run single in the top of the fourth inning. The Knights had led since a RBI single by Juan Gonzalez in the former frame. Juan Figueroa got the win thanks to five innings of one-run ball. Santo Hernandez relieved him and shut the door, striking out seven in four innings of one-hit, one-walk relief. Ruderly Manuel issued a whopping 13 free passes in eight innings, but still managed to give up only two runs in the loss. His defense helped him out with four double plays.
