Recaps: Nettuno beats Rimini, Bologna crushes Parma

Posted on May 18, 2012 by philipp

Danesi Nettuno – Telemarket Rimini 3-1

Danesi Nettuno, which didn’t start well into the 2012 campaign, is continuing to make up ground in the Italian Baseball League. On Thursday they defeated Telemarket Rimini 3-1 in front of 400 people at Steno Borghese stadium. The decisive three runs were scored in the sixth inning, where Nettuno took advantage of a bases loaded situation. Chris Crescenzi got hit by pitch to push the first run over the plate, Renato Imperiali followed with a sac fly to right and Giuseppe Mazzanti scored through a passed ball. The Pirates only were able to answer with a RBI single by Mario Chiarini in the eighth. Juan Figueroa pitched seven three-hit, three-walk innings for the win. Francisco Cruceta took the loss.

Unipol Bologna – Cariparma Parma 15-3 (7)

Unipol Bologna dispatched Cariparma Parma 15-3 in seven innings in the second IBL game on Thursday. Six runs in the fourth and eight in the sixth blew the contest wide open. Claudio Liverziani (homerun) and Juan Carlos Infante drove in three runs apiece. Marco Sabbatani went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Jesus Matos got the easy win. Jose Sanchez was charged with the loss.
