Results Austrian Baseball League May 5&6

Posted on May 8, 2012 by philipp

The Stock City Cubs remain at the top of the Austrian Baseball League standings. Led by starting pitchers Mark Brunnthaler and Seth Blevins they beat defending champion Vienna Metrostars twice on Sunday to improve to 6-0 for the season. Moritz Hackl ran for an inside the park homerun.

On Saturday the GEI Athletics Attnang-Puchheim won twice against the promoted Dornbirn Indians. Kris Edwards struck out 18 in the second game of the doubleheader. But the A’s still needed a walk-off homerun by Martin Rabengruber in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it.

The Vienna Wanderers ended their winless streak, sweeping the Union Kufstein Vikings. They overcame a one-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth in game one. In the second match Christian Tomsich out-dueled Bubbie Buzzachero to lead Vienna. Meanwhile the Schwaz Tigers and the Vienna-Neustadt Diving Ducks had to settle for a split.
