David Bergman struck out 12 in eight innings, allowing just two runs (1 ER) on six hits in a dominant performance. Reynaldo Claro took the loss, issuing seven hits, five runs (3 ER) and two bb.
Mr. Cocker HCAW – L&D Amsterdam Pirates 1-10
L&D Amsterdam crushed Mr. Cocker HCAW on Thursday 10-1. After already leading 5-0 after five innings, the Pirates put a five-spot on the scoreboard in the ninth to blow things wide open. Vince Rooi went deep and drove in four to lead the way. Kenny Berkenbosch collected four hits. Sidney de Jong scored three times. Rob Cordemans struck out nine in seven scoreless innings. Leon Elshof was charged with the loss.
Vaessen Pioniers – UVV 2-4 (8)
In a series with the Vaessen Pioniers, which could propeller UVV right back into the mix for the top four, they won the opener 4-2. Three runs in the seventh inning decided the outcome in a game, which was cut short to eight innings due to the Dutch curfew rule. Starters Jurjen van Zijl and Kevin Miner allowed one run each in 5 2/3, respective six innings. Sedley Karel got the win, Swen Huijer the loss.
AamigoO ADO Lakers – DOOR Neptunus 1-12 (7)
DOOR Neptunus dispatched the AamigoO ADO Lakers 12-1 in seven innings. Five runs in the fifth broke a 1-1 tie. Six runs in the seventh ended the contest due to mercy rule. Rafael Jozefa and Rien Vernooij combined for six RBI. Raily Legito scored three times. All nine players in the starting lineup crossed the plate at least once. Diegomar Markwell pitched six innings for the win. Reggie Bomberg took the loss.
