Having a bye in week one the Mannheim Tornados open their 2012 campaign in the German Baseball-Bundesliga at home against the Haar Disciples. New player-coach Matt Kemp will not only try to get the team back into the playoffs, but also into the finals. They square off with a team, which won twice with walk-off hits last weekend, as the Disciples downed the Stuttgart Reds. Also in the south the Buchbinder Legionaere will play their 600th league game against the Bad Homburg Hornets, while using uniforms from 1987. The Stuttgart Reds hope for their first win of the season against the Mainz Athletics.
In the north the Cologne Cardinals host the Untouchables Paderborn, trying to solidify their strong start into the new season. Also the Dohren Wild Farmers take on the Bonn Capitals, which are without Markus Solbach, who traveled to extended spring training with the Minnesota Twins this week. The Solingen Alligators will take on the HSV Stealers and the Berlin Sluggers hope to take away road wins from the Dortmund Wanderers.
