The Montpellier Barracudas honored their former coach and current Baseball Canada head coach and director for national teams Greg Hamilton by re-naming the baseball stadium in Montpellier into “Greg Hamilton Baseball Park”. The plague was unveiled in a ceremony after the season opener against the Templiers Senart on March 24.
Hamilton attended Princeton University and became a coach after graduating. After working as assistant coach at Princeton and for Team Canada, he came to Europe from 1993 to 1998 to lead the Montpellier Barracudas to three national titles and into five finals overall. He also worked as pitching coach for the French national team.
Since 1998 Hamilton is the head coach and director of national teams for Baseball Canada. He was named most influential Canadian in Baseball in 2011, when his teams won the bronze medal at the Baseball World Cup, the gold medal at the Pan Am Games and the silver medal at the Pan Am Junior Games.
