Preview: Undefeated Barcelona, Valencia with tough Tasks

Posted on March 9, 2012 by philipp

After two game days in the 2012 season in the Spanish Division de Honor, CB Barcelona and the Astros Valencia lead the standings with perfect 4-0 records, followed by the surprise team CD Pamplona (3-1). This weekend all three will face tough tasks.

Barcelona so far got a pair of solid starts out of Jose Hernandez and Jorge Balboa. On offense Pau Sancho is leading the way. They will be back in Montjuic taking on local rival CB Viladecans, which lost three of the first four games. Juan Carlos Campos and Miguel Luengo are expected to take the mound for the record champion in Spanish Baseball.

The Astros will travel to the Canary Islands for a twin bill with the Tenerife Marlins. Puerto Cruz is 2-2 after matchups with the strong CB Sant Boi and San Inazio Bilbao. Lowuin Sacramento and Leslie Nacar are expected as starting pitchers for the Marlins. Valencia counters with Trevor Caughey and Pedro Pablo Belmonte.

Pamplona with Eneko Del Burgo leading the pitching staff, has to square off with San Inazio this weekend, as both teams battle to stay in the upper half of the standings. Also on the schedule are a duel of the winless Halcones de Vigo against CB Sant Boi and two games between the promoted El Llano and Baseball Navarra.
