The defending Swiss champions have signed IF/P Benji Waite for the 2012 season. Benji hits from the left side, and is a right handed pitcher. He played in the German 1. Bundesliga for the Gauting Indians last year, and played his college ball for the D1, University of Alabama Birmingham. Benji will be expected to contribute with the bat, and on the mound in game 2 the coming season.
Further bolstering their roster, the Cards have also signed OF/P Ryan Byrne. Ryan holds both an American, and a Swiss passport, strengthening game 1 pitching for the 7 time Swiss champ. Ryan is a former member of the Junior College national champion, San Jacinto College Coyotes.
The head coaching position will be filled once again by John Baum. The Cardinals have won five championships in six seasons under Baum. They have also found success on the European landscape, winning two cup qualifiers in recent years.
