Palfinger Reggio Emilia, a former Italian Baseball League club and now a team in the Serie A of the Federal Championship, has made a big-name acquisition for the upcoming season. They have signed Dominican right-handed pitcher Gustavo Martinez. The 36-year-old former Minor Leaguer, who reached Triple-A within the Seattle Mariners organization, wear the jersey of Telemarket Rimini (2008/2009) and Cariparma Parma (2010) in the IBL. This winter he spent in the Nicaraguan League, posting an ERA of 3.50 in 54 innings.
