Japan defeats All Star Team in Olympic Warm up, Taiwan wins too

The Japanese Olympic team defeated a Pacific League All Star Squad 6-4 in Tokyo on Friday. They overcame a 2-3 deficit in the fifth, scoring four runs, on RBI singles by Hiroyuki Nakajima and Norichika Aoki, a sac fly by Takahiro Arai and a RBI double by G.G. Sato for a 6-3 lead. Tomoya Satozaki hit a homerun for Japan.

Up and coming high touted prospect Yu Darvish, who is expected to start the opener against Cuba next week, allowed two runs on three hits in three innings, while striking out three.

Taiwan won the second straight game in a series of exhibitions against Chinese Professional Baseball League clubs. They shut out the Uni-President Lions 7-0. They started fast, scoring six runs in the first two frames, highlighted by a three-run homerun by Cheng-Ming Chang.

Hui-Lung Pan and three relievers combined in a four-hitter. Pan worked five effective innings.
