The 41-year-old Dutch Luc Sachteleben is the new head coach of Belgian D1 R. Mortsel Stars. He has more than 10 years of coaching experience, as assistant coach for D1 R. Antwerp Eagles and head coach/manager for D2 Gent SEIKO-Optical Knights, taking the Knights twice to relegation games for D1.
Coach Sachteleben‘s task is to solidify the team in D1, after they just missed 6th place in runs against the Brasschaat Braves in 2011. The team mainly consisting of U23 players, with national juniors Ben Van Nuffel and Wesley Janssens, easily won the relegation games to confirm their D1 status.
