An error and a Shaldimar Daantji three-run double in the fourth inning helped the Netherlands in a 5-2 win over Japan on Tuesday afternoon in Panama City. It was the third victory for the Dutch team in as many games. They added a fifth run in the ninth on a RBI double by Curt Smith. Rob Cordemans (W, 1-0) went six innings, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk, striking out two. Masamitsu Hamano (L, 0-1) took the loss for Japan, which used a whopping seven pitchers in the game.
Brilliant result for baseball in Europe.
