German Finals: Full House expected for Game 5 on Saturday

Posted on September 22, 2011September 22, 2011 by philipp

The Regensburg Legionaere pulled even with the Paderborn Untouchables in the German Championship last weekend, evening the series at 2-2 and forcing a decided game five in Regensburg this weekend.

Although the Untouchables got out to a 2-0 series lead, they find themselves without momentum entering the last game, and will be facing a motivated Regensburg club that is going for championship number three.

With Brian Fields unable to pitch for the boys from Paderborn, meaning it will be up to Eugen Heilmann if the visitors want to stay in the game. For the hosts, we can again expect a great performance from Mike Bolsenbroek, who has won three of his postseason starts.

Narrow victories have been played out in each of the first four matchups. The first two games were decided by one run, while the games in Paderborn had a run difference of five and two, respectively. The shutout in game three may say the most about the upcoming decider, as the Paderborn offense wasn’t able to get anything going against the Legionaere pitching.

With everything on the line, Paderborn is strong enough to stay in the game until the end, but Regensburg has no plans on losing another game on their home field. Legionaere lift the trophy in the Armin Wolf Arena.
