CB Sant Boi hosts FC Barcelona for Catalonian Showdown

Posted on July 25, 2008 by philipp

The leader in the standings of the Division de Honor, the MARLINS PUERTO CRUZ can lean back this weekend and regroup for the decisive phase of the championship. Their eyes are going to be looking at Catalonia. The CB SANT BOI is host to the FC BARCELONA, when the third faces the second. BARCA needs to win at least one to stay in the race for first place with a meeting with the MARLINS left.  It is going to be thrilling to follow the duel between the local rivals.

On Saturday evening SANT BOI is probably sending Albert Vargas (8-3, ERA 1.44) to the mound to stop the BARCELONA offense led by Jesus Golindano (.419, 23 runs, 20 RBI) and Oscar Roman (.500 14 runs, 17 RBI in 10 games), who is tearing up Spanish pitching since his arrival from San Diego. Homer Baez (10-1, ERA 0.62) is expected to start for BARCA. The twin bill resumes on Sunday morning with Yoel Hernandez (BOI, 6-2, ERA 2.16) and Jorge Balboa (FCB, 7-1, ERA 1.71) battling on the mound.

BARCELONA should be slightly favored, as they have won the last ten games in a row. A sweep would move them within one game behind PUERTO CRUZ in the standings.
