With the, for the Dutch Olympic Team nominated, pitcher Shairon Martis (Washington Nationals) closing out the Futures Game on Sunday, MLB.com is also running a story about the right-hander.
Martis came from the San Francisco Giants to the organization in July 2006 in the Mike Stanton trade and is moving through their farm system since. This season he is a combined 4-5 with an ERA of 3.94 for the Double and Triple A Teams of the Nationals. According to the article he reaches 94 MPH with his fastball this year, after touching the high 80s in 2007. This could lead to a September call up for Martis.
