In the German Baseball-Bundesliga the race for the playoffs in the southern division got a little bit more interesting, as the Mannheim Tornados won both games on the road against the Mainz Athletics this weekend. Both teams are now tied 10-10 for fourth place in the standings. One game in front of them, the Haar Disciples sit in third after two losses against the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe.
In the north the Solingen Alligators moved into second with two wins over the Berlin Sluggers, as pitchers Andre Hughes and JD Sholten combined to allow just one hit in 14 innings. The Bonn Capitals had to settle for the split against the Dortmund Wanderers. The Untouchables Paderborn crushed the Pulheim Gophers in both ends of the twin bill. The surprise of the weekend took place in Hamburg, where the HSV Stealers lost twice to the Dohren Wild Farmers.
