Paris UC Baseball hosts a Baseball Camp for the Mentally Disabled

On June 28th, Paris UC Baseball Club hosted a day-long baseball camp for CITL de Vanves’ Mentally Disabled group. The camp included an initiation into the sport of baseball, led by Paris UC Head Coach Jeff Stoeckel and players Sean O’Hara and Will Musson. Around 35 participants from CITL de Vanves attended, as well as employees from the organization. In the afternoon, a small game was played and a demonstration followed with Paris UC players taking groundballs, hitting batting practice, and simulating a game situation. Some more information about the CITL de Vanves program is included below.

The Rehabilitation Centre at CITL de Vanves offer courses in vocational rehabilitation for people with disabilities. The purpose of the Workers’ Rehabilitation Centre is to train or retrain people to work in a vocational setting to earn a living. The Rehabilitation Centres are nursing homes operated by public or private organizations. Training costs are covered by health insurance. The duration of training is 10 to 30 months.
