Just hours after defeating Curacao 7-1, Taiwan put an even more impressive performance at the World Port Tournament on Tuesday, as they defeated the same opponent 19-1 in seven innings. It was the most lopsided win of the tournament so far, as the Asian team scored seven in the first, five in the second and six in the third en route to their fifth win in the fifth game. Wei Thing Lin and Han Lin hit homeruns for Taiwan. Chih Pei Huang and Yu Kin Huang drove in four apiece. Chih Pei Huang also crossed the plate four times. Quincy Martina avoided the shutout against the Caribbeans with a solo shot in the seventh. Po Yu Lin (W) allowed three hits and a walk in five scoreless innings. Orsendo Clemencia (L) issued five runs on two hits and two walks while getting no outs in the first.

The Netherlands picked up its third win in the fifth game, defeating Germany 6-1 in the evening game on Tuesday. After play got interrupted for more than two hours after one batter in the first due to a heavy thunderstorm, weather caused the early ending midway through the sixth inning. Leon Boyd (W) allowed just three hits, a run and a walk in five innings. Raily Legito scored twice for the Dutch team. Dwayne Kemp drove in two. Danny Rombley and Sidney de Jong, like Kemp, also collected two hits apiece. Simon Guehring scored the lone German run on a RBI single by Bjoern Schonlau in the fifth. Rene Franke (L) took the loss after facing one batter in the first. He didn’t come back after the lengthy rain delay. Max Schmitz and Daniel Harms also threw in the game.
