Preview: Therwil Flyers, Bern Cardinals return to Swiss NLA after European Cup Qualifiers

Posted on June 17, 2011June 17, 2011 by philipp

After playing the European Cup Qualifiers, the two top teams in the Swiss Nationalliga A return to league play this weekend. The Bern Cardinals host the winless Zurich Lions for a doubleheader on Sunday, while the Therwil Flyers travel to the Sissach Frogs. Already on Saturday the Embrach Mustangs take on the Lucerne Eagles.

On Wednesday the Zurich Barracudas had dispatched the Zurich Challengers in a rare night game in Switzerland. Ten runs in the last three frames blew a close game wide open. Kody Hightower led the way with four runs scored and two RBI. Frank Berchtold (W 3-4) got the win after eight innings. Tobias Siegrist (L 3-3) took the loss.
