CD Pamplona – FC Barcelona 2-8, 6-10
The FC Barcelona solidified first place in the Division de Honor with a sweep over CD Pamplona. In game one Ricardo Hernandez (W 10-0) struck out twelve in six scoreless three-hit innings to lead Barcelona to an 8-2 win. Jose Luis Riera went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Alexis Fumero (L 3-9) gave up nine hits, six runs (5 ER) and four bb in seven innings.
In the second match Barca scored four runs in the top of the eighth to break a 4-4 tie en route to a 10-6 win and the sweep. Jose Luis Riera (4 RBI), Pau Sancho and Jason Friedman hit homeruns. Gabriel Guerrero went deep for Pamplona. Oscar Gimenez (W 2-0) received the win in relief, Juan Redin (L 0-2) the loss.
Halcones de Vigo – Astros Valencia 1-8, 2-1
The Astros Valencia had to settle for a split in their twin bill with Halcones de Vigo. In game one Trevor Caughey (W 8-1) struck out ten in eight scoreless four-hit innings to lead the Astros to an 8-1 win. Sandel Cuevas doubled twice and drove in five. Ronny Materano (L 1-1) allowed one unearned run on four hits and three bb in six innings. Valencia scored seven of their eight runs in the last two frames.
In the second match a two-run single by Alejandro Carrillo in the bottom of the fifth was all Vigo needed for a 2-1 win, which was shortened to seven innings due to rain. Andoni Ortiz (W 3-1) allowed seven hits and an unearned run in seven innings. He struck out seven. Pedro Pablo Belmonte (L 7-3) was charged with two runs on seven hits in seven innings.
CB Sant Boi – San Inazio Bilbao 8-5, 5-0
CB Sant Boi remains in second place after two wins over San Inazio Bilbao. In game one Rafael Rivas, William Domero and Daniel Sanchez combined for six RBI in an 8-5 win. Kelvin Marianucci went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three runs and two RBI. Winston Marquez (W 2-1) went the distance allowing ten hits, five runs (3 ER) and three bb. Jose Romero (L 6-4) took the loss after six innings, seven hits, eight runs (7 ER) and five walks.
In the second match Lowin Sacramento (W 9-2) conceded three hits and three bb in eight scoreless innings to lead Sant Boi to a 5-0 shutout. He struck out eight. Daniel Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Alberto Magallon (L 4-7) issued eight hits, three runs (2 ER) and two bb in seven innings.
Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz – Baseball Navarra 6-7 (10), 10-0
The Tenerife Marlins lost another game in the race for the championship, splitting against Baseball Navarra. In game one Navarra prevailed 7-6 in ten innings thanks to RBIs by Victor Martinez and Hector Perozo in the first extra innings. Puerto Cruz tried to come back in the bottom of the frame, but managed only a RBI double by Dewis Navarro. Perozo, Luis Villanueva and Adolfo Gonzalez hit homeruns for the team from Pamplona. Navarro combined with Nestor Perez for four RBI. Perozo (W 1-5) also picked up the win in relief, Yoel Hernandez (L 6-3) took the loss.
In the second portion of the doubleheader, Eric Gonzalez (W 2-1) pitched a gem, allowing two hits and three walks in a seven-inning 10-0 shutout. He struck out eight. Richard Montiel reached base four time, including through a homerun. He also doubled and drove in two. Yorking Cespedes (L 2-3) issued seven hits, six runs (4 ER) and three bb in 3 2/3 frames.
Sevilla Red Sox – CB Viladecans 1-21, 0-16
CB Viladecans dispatched the Sevilla Red Sox easily on the road, scoring 37 runs in the doubleheader, while allowing just one. Viladecans remains in fifth place, while Sevilla sits in tenth.
